Brock talent in the limelight

From singing to standup comedy, students are showing off their skills this week as they compete for a spot in the Brock’s Got Talent competition finale on Thursday, Jan. 30.

The competition, hosted by the Brock University Students’ Union (BUSU), kicked off with live heats on Tuesday, Jan. 21 and Wednesday, Jan. 22 in Union Station.

“We had an overwhelming amount of talent audition for a spot in the heats this year,” said BUSU Vice-President, Student Services Shinaya Peiris. “I had the pleasure of hosting this event last year, and seeing how it has grown over the years, makes it that much more exciting.”

Six finalists, voted on by their fellow students during the heats, will move forward to the finale, where they will perform in front of a live audience and panel of guest judges, including David Vivian, Associate Professor and Scenographer in the Department of Dramatic Arts; Paige Rutledge, a Canadian country singer; and Sierra Vallescura, a dance teacher at M Dance Studio in Mississauga, Ont.

The Brock’s Got Talent Finale is open to students, family and friends. Spot are limited and tickets are available on the BUSU website. BrockTV will also stream the event live on its YouTube Channel.
