Philippine delegation explores Brock research partnerships

A delegation from Isabela State University (ISU) in the Philippines visited Brock last week to explore potential research collaborations between the two institutions.

Hosted by Brock International on Thursday, Nov. 7, the visit built on a meeting in the Philippines earlier this year where Brock leaders toured ISU’s campus and discussed mutual research interests.

The ISU delegation, which included President Ricmar Prudencia Aquino, toured Brock’s campus, exploring the Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute, the Brock-Niagara Validation, Prototyping and Manufacturing Institute, and the Brock LINC.

The delegates also met with colleagues from the Faculties of Education, Mathematics and Science, and Applied Health Sciences, and the Goodman School of Business; as well as the Office of Research Services, the Centre for Pedagogical Innovation, and Professional and Continuing Studies to discuss collaborative research, short-term customized professional training opportunities, and diverse ways to engage students and faculty through online colloquiums.

A Memorandum of Understanding signed in March formalized the partnership between the universities, establishing pathways for continuous exchange between ISU and Brock faculty and students.

Brock provided the ISU delegates with a tour of Niagara Falls and visits to the Niagara Parks Power Station, allowing them to experience the region’s natural beauty.
