Brock to mark International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Brock University is gearing up to celebrate International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

Observed annually on Dec. 3, the day will be marked on campus with an event Wednesday, Dec. 4, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Pond Inlet.

Open to all members of the Brock community, the celebration will include the presentation of the Accessibility and Inclusion Recognition Award, given to a student as well as a faculty or staff member who contributes to creating a community free of discrimination.

Call for nominations for the award are open until Monday, Nov. 18.

Organized by the Anti-Ableism and Mental Health Committee in collaboration with Brock’s Office of Human Rights and Equity, the event will celebrate diversity and inclusion, bringing attention to disability justice and promoting a more inclusive campus.

“We hope to inspire meaningful change in daily interactions at Brock, fostering a culture where everyone feels valued and supported,” says Megan Kuzak, Accessibility and Inclusion Advisor. “This event, alongside the award, celebrates those who work toward inclusivity and challenges all of us to make our campus more accessible and equitable for everyone.”
