The Brock University community is mourning the loss of Mishrka Bucha, a fourth-year Psychology student with a minor in French Studies.
Known for her involvement in many aspects of campus life, Bucha was an active and beloved member of the Brock community.
An international student from Mauritius, she was well-known for helping her peers both as a Don in Brock’s Quarry View Residence and as a former International Student Ambassador. As an ambassador, Bucha played a vital role in working with prospective and current international students, sharing her Brock experience and assisting with the transition to life in Canada.
Bucha was also a student-athlete with the Brock women’s fencing team, and had served as a student-staff member with Brock Library as well as Career Services.
“Without a doubt, Mishrka touched many, many lives across our University community,” says Dean Ingrid Makus of the Faculty of Social Sciences. “We are deeply saddened for her friends and loved ones, her fellow students, and for the staff and faculty members who knew her well. Our thoughts are with Mishrka’s family at this difficult time.”
