Registration, abstract submissions open for Youth Sport Summit

Brock University’s first conference dedicated to youth sport is set to take place this spring, and the deadline to submit research abstracts is fast approaching.

Organized by the University’s Centre for Healthy Youth Development through Sport in partnership with Youth Research and Evaluation eXchange (YouthREX), the Youth Sport Summit will take place at Brock on Wednesday, April 24.

Post-secondary students, researchers, community members and professionals involved in all types of youth sport and physical activity are invited to attend and/or participate in the summit.

Keynote speakers include Marco Di Buono, President of Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities, and Dean Kriellaars, Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Manitoba and a global leader in physical literacy research and practice.

“Not only is the Youth Sport Summit an opportunity to hear first-hand from leaders who are working to enhance youth sport and physical activity across Ontario and beyond, it’s also a venue for people to connect with others in the industry to share knowledge, generate new ideas and establish best practices,” says Corliss Bean, Director of the Centre for Healthy Youth Development through Sport and Assistant Professor of Recreation and Leisure Studies at Brock.

Early bird registration pricing is open until Wednesday, March 17. Registration includes on-campus parking, lunch, coffee, tea and snacks throughout the day.

Those interested in presenting are invited to submit an abstract for a poster, podium presentation, workshop or panel discussion aligned with the summit theme, “Learn, Connect, Move!” Abstracts are due by Friday, Feb. 9.
