Statement: Violence in Middle East

The thoughts of the Brock University community are with all those affected by the ongoing violence taking place in Israel and Gaza.

Brock’s International team has been in touch directly with students and visiting scholars from the region to share our concern and provide resources and supports during this difficult time.

If you are feeling the impact of this situation, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the many supports available to you as a member of the Brock community.

Student supports include:

Personal Counselling: Aims to provide students with the support needed to address their concerns about their well-being.

Book an appointment (in person or online); please call 1-833-276-2533 (1-833-BROCK33). If outside North America, call 001 416 382 3257 (long distance charges may apply). To book ongoing sessions with a Brock counsellor you need to be living in Canada. This line is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. 

Text or chat with a counsellor using the Telus Health Student Support app 24-7. Download Telus Health Student Support App Store or Google Play and search “Brock University Personal Counselling Program” when creating your profile.

If you are unable to call the Personal Counselling phone number due to accessibility issues, please email counselling@brocku.ca. This email is monitored Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and therefore should not be used for urgent matters.

Students can receive urgent/crisis 24-7 telephone counselling by calling 1-833-276-2533 (1-833-BROCK33) or students who are outside of North America can call 001 416 382 3257 (long distance charges may apply) for 24-7 telephone support, 365 days a year.

Wellness Hub: The Student Health and Wellness Hub is a space where students can drop-in to chat with a Peer Health Educator about ways to improve their overall health and wellness. The Wellness Hub is located at TH 134, which is down the hallway from Student Success, next to Market Hall. Drop in daily Monday through Friday from noon to 5 p.m.

Learning Services: Offering skills workshops and resources, drop-in academic support, peer tutoring and other resources for students who may face academic challenges.  Learn more on the Learning Services web page and email learning@brocku.ca with any questions.

Students are also always welcome and encouraged to connect with their Academic Faculty for additional academic supports.

Human Rights and Equity: A resource for all Brock community members to provide information, education, assistance and advice on issues related to human rights, harassment, discrimination and bullying. The Campus Assessment, Response, Education (CARE) and Connect Team:  The CARE and Connect Team supports Brock University students with challenges related to health, well-being and academic success. Using a holistic approach, they provide personalized support to connect students with campus and community resources, empowering students towards a healthy and successful future. The team receives referrals for any concern about any student and encourages the community to submit a report at any time. This can be confidential through the CARE team web page.

Faculty and staff can find supports via the Employee and Family Assistance Program.
