Nominations open Friday for Senate byelection

The process for the byelection of full-time teaching staff and professional librarians to Brock’s 2023-24 Senate begins Friday, Oct. 6.

Any member of the full-time teaching staff and any professional librarian is eligible to serve on Senate, which meets regularly from September to May.

In accordance with the Brock University Act and the Senate Bylaws set out in the Section 2 of the Faculty Handbook, and the Senate Electorate Guidelines, any member of the full-time teaching staff and any professional librarian is eligible to vote in the Senate election, whether or not they are on leave at the time of the election. Full-time teaching staff includes all teaching faculty members: tenure-track, probationary, limited term, Department Chairs, Associate Deans, research associates and assistants, and post-doctoral appointees as well as any employee engaged full time in the work of teaching or research.

The electorate list will be distributed Friday, Oct. 6 and nominations will open at that time. Any corrections to the electorate list may be submitted to the University Secretary between Monday, Oct. 9 and Friday, Oct. 13 at 9 a.m.

Nomination forms signed by the candidate and at least four persons eligible to vote in the election will be accepted by the Secretary of Senate via email to universitysecretary@brocku.ca until 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 23. Candidates are encouraged to submit a statement of a maximum of 200 words (no links) with their nomination to universitysecretary@brocku.ca by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 23.

Electronic voting will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 25 and will close at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 30.
