Thesis defences — Aug. 14 to Aug. 18

The following is a list of thesis defences taking place between Monday, Aug. 14 and Friday, Aug. 18.

PhD in Applied Health Sciences thesis defence

Bradley Baranowski, a PhD in Applied Health Sciences candidate, will defend the thesis “Investigating the role of Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factor content and signalling on Amyloid Precursor Protein processing” on Tuesday, Aug. 15 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in PLZ 600F.

The examination committee members are Wendy Ward, Chair; Rebecca MacPherson, Supervisor; Bettina Kalisch, External Examiner (Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph); Aleksandar Necakov, Internal Examiner; and Paul LeBlanc, Val Fajardo and Cheryl McCormick, Advisory Committee.

Master of Science in Biotechnology thesis defence

Marcelo Muniz Correa, a Master of Science in Biotechnology candidate, will defend the thesis “The optimization of a time-resolved, vehicle-based fluorescence assay for the activity of lipid kinase PI$K-IIIBETA and the effect of lipid transfer proteins on enzyme activity” on Thursday, Aug. 17 at 9:30 a.m. in TH 253.

The examination committee includes Cheryl McCormick, Chair; Jeffrey Atkinson, Supervisor; Roberto Botelho, External Examiner (Toronto Metropolitan University); and Paul Zelisko and Stephen Glasgow, Committee Members.
