Thesis defences — July 24 to July 28

The following is a list of thesis defences taking place between Monday, July 24 and Friday, July 28.

Master of Arts in Child and Youth Studies thesis defence     

Ruchika Suri, a Master of Arts in Child and Youth Studies candidate, will defend the thesis “A Comprehensive Analysis of Child and Youth Experiences within Shaking the Movers Workshops: A Discourse Analysis of Canadian UNCRC Implementation Efforts” on Tuesday, July 25 from 10 a.m. to noon in virtual format.

The examination committee includes Dawn Zinga, Chair; Richard Mitchell, Supervisor; Laura Wright, External Examiner (University of Edinburgh); Heather Ramey, Graduate Program Director and Committee Member; and Dolana Mogadime, Committee Member.

Master of Arts ​in Psychology thesis defence

Rebecca Anderson, a Master of ​Arts in Psychology candidate, will defend the thesis “Institutional signals of inclusion: Increasing perceptions of possibilities available for the self and others in STEM” on Tuesday, July 25 from 1 to 3 p.m. in WH 147.

The examination committee includes Dawn Zinga, Chair; William Hall, Supervisor; Antonia Mantonakis, External Examiner (Goodman School of Business); Michael Busseri, Graduate Program Director; and Sabrina Thai and Gordon Hodson, Committee Members.

PhD in Applied Health Sciences thesis defence

Gabriela Matamoros, a PhD in Applied Health Sciences candidate, will defend the thesis “Advancements in Trichuris trichiura treatment and diagnosis in children: Assessing high-dose ivermectin, benzimidazoles and diagnostic techniques” on Wednesday, July 26 from 9 a.m. to noon in PLZ 600F.

PhD in Interdisciplinary Humanities thesis defence

Mitchell Goldsmith, a PhD in Interdisciplinary Humanities candidate, will defend the thesis “The Unfinished Business of Anna Kingsford: Science, Enchantment, and Experiments on Animals” on Thursday, July 27 from 11:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. in PLZ 600F.

Master of Science in Chemistry thesis defence

Alexander D. Orshinsky, a Master of Science in Chemistry will defend the thesis“Investigating the crosslinking mechanism of cinnamate-modified silicones” on Friday, July 28 at 10:30 a.m. in WH 147
