PACHRED seeking additional members

Brock University’s President’s Advisory Committee for Human Rights, Equity and Decolonization (PACHRED) has reopened its nomination portal for new staff members to join.

After an initial call for new members in April, nominations will now be open until Monday, July 31 for participants to join the committee that advises Brock President Lesley Rigg on issues relating to human rights, equity and decolonization.

The committee also unifies the activities of six affiliated working groups: 2S&LGBTQ+, Anti-Ableism and Mental Health, Anti-Racism, Decolonization, Employment Equity and Sexual Violence Prevention.

Brock Talent Coach Andrew Bassingthwaighte, PACHRED’s Staff Co-Chair, says the involvement of Brock staff within PACHRED is critical when decisions are being made around issues that impact the work they do with students and other community members.

“Being a part of PACHRED means that members’ voices are included in these conversations to help shape the environment and culture at Brock to become more inclusive,” he says. “In addition, serving on PACHRED is a great way of making connections with individuals across the University that share the same level of passion and commitment to advocacy and equity work.”
