Nominations open for Health, Safety and Wellness Champion

With the return of Brock’s much-anticipated annual Employee Wellness Day comes the announcement of the University’s new Health, Safety and Wellness (HSW) Champion.

The HSW Champion Award was established by the HSW department in 2016 to recognize individuals or departments who make significant contributions to health, safety and wellness at the University each year.

“Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have not awarded a Champion since June 2019,” says Leigh Harold, Director, Health, Safety and Wellness. “We are very excited to once again provide a member of the Brock community with this recognition.”

Brock employees are invited to nominate individuals or departments that have demonstrated leadership in health and safety in the workplace, such championing of a culture of health, safety and wellness in their units or across campus. Also considered will be actions taken to prevent workplace injuries or illnesses.

Nominations are being accepted for the 2022-23 award recipient until 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23. Visit the Health, Safety and Wellness Toolbox on SharePoint for more information.

The 2022-23 HSW Champion will be announced at the 21st annual Employee Wellness Day taking place Tuesday, June 20.

Past award recipients include Robert Glass, Manager, Mechanical Services, Facilities Management (2018-19); Karen McAllister-Kenny, Director, Youth Programs (2017-18); and Karl Thorp, Senior Platoon Supervisor with Campus Security Services (2016-17).
