Thesis defences — March 20 to March 24

The following is a list of thesis defences taking place virtually from Monday, March 20 to Friday, March 24.

PhD in Chemistry thesis defence

Junpeng Xu, a PhD in Chemistry candidate, will defend the thesis “Programming strand displacement reaction pathways using small molecular DNA binders” on Monday, March 20 from 9 a.m. to noon in a virtual format.

The examination committee members are Wendy Ward, Chair; Feng Li and Georgii Nikonov, Co-Supervisors; Chengde Mao, External Examiner (Purdue University); Shengrong Bu, Internal Examiner; and Martin Lemaire and Vaughn Mangal, Advisory Committee.

Master of Arts in Child and Youth Studies thesis defence

Haley Myatt, a Master of Arts in Child and Youth Studies candidate, will defend the thesis “Taking the Lead: Understanding Student Leadership in Atlantic Canadian Secondary Schools” on Wednesday, March 22 at 10 a.m. in virtual format.

The examination committee includes Dawn Zinga, Chair; Rebecca Raby, Supervisor; Anne Coffey, External Examiner (Associate Professor, Department of Education, University of Notre Dame Australia); Hannah Dyer, Graduate Program Director; and Heather Chalmers and Catherine Hands, Committee Members.

Master of Science in Management (Organization Study Stream) thesis defense

Daniela Gatti, a Master of Science in Management candidate, will defend the thesis “Beyond the Glass Ceiling: How marginalized genders attain tenure and career progression in stigmatized careers” on Friday, March 24, at 10 a.m. in virtual format.
