Mary Ellen Turpel-Lafond has voluntarily relinquished the honorary degree awarded to her by Brock in 2010. Brock accepts her decision. 

The awarding of the degree had been under review following concerns raised in the media.

Consultation with stakeholders, including the Indigenous community, had been underway as the University determined its next steps.
