Cultivating community connections topic of next Women in Leadership

At the next session of Women in Leadership, two friends and former Brock colleagues will return virtually to the University to discuss the value of community engagement in personal, professional and leadership development.

Emily O’Connor (BA ’09), Manager of Resource Development for Habitat for Humanity, and Kristen Nilsen (BBA ’12, MEd ’18), Academic Quality Consultant at Niagara College, will share insights they’ve learned from their involvement in NEXTNiagara — a council of the Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce — in conjunction with their career journeys.

The pair plan to touch on topics of imposter syndrome, strategies to reinvigorate a career, strengthening professional credibility/visibility and building relationships.

Both women have been recognized for their contributions to the community, including being named 40 Under Forty, an annual list recognizing Niagara’s top young business professionals, O’Connor in 2020 and Nilsen in 2022.

All who are interested are invited to tune in Tuesday, March 28 from noon to 1 p.m. via Microsoft Teams. Details on this and other upcoming Women in Leadership sessions, including dates, descriptions and login information, are available on the Women in Leadership website.

Women in Leadership is committed to supporting and advancing persons who identify as women to achieve and succeed in leadership. All are welcome. Individuals are welcome to join the channel on Microsoft Teams or to contact Jeannie Mackintosh to be added to the email distribution list.
