The following is a list of thesis defences taking place from Monday, Jan. 30 to Friday, Feb. 3.

PhD in Applied Health Sciences thesis defence

Kate Wickham, a PhD in Applied Health Sciences candidate, will defend the thesis “Stepping away from pharmaceutical therapies: Exercise and supplementation with fermented red clover extract as alternative strategies to promote vascular health in postmenopausal women” on Wednesday, Feb. 1 from noon to 3 p.m. in MCD 350L.

PhD in Psychology thesis defence

Kristen Baker, a PhD in Psychology candidate, will defend the thesis “Unfamiliar and newly learned face identification: An examination of individual differences” on Friday, Feb. 3 from 9 a.m. to noon. The defence will take place in PLZ 600F.

Master of Science in Computer Science thesis defences

Mubashir Murshed, a Master of Science in Computer Science candidate, will defend the thesis “Reinforcement Learning-based User-centric Handover decision-making in 5G Vehicular Networks ” on Monday, Jan. 30 at 3:15 p.m. in STH 215.

The examination committee includes Cheryl McCormick, Chair; Robson De Grande, Supervisor; Naser Ezzati-Jivan, External Examiner (Brock University); and Glaucio Haroldo Silva de Carvalho and Renata Queiroz Dividino, Committee Members.

Mohammed Adib Khan, a Master of Science in Computer Science candidate, will defend the thesis “Time-Series Trend-Based Multi-Level Adaptive Tracing” on Wednesday, Feb. 1 at 9:30 a.m. in WH208.

Derek Hon, a Master of Science in Computer Science candidate, will defend the thesis “Distributed MAP-Elites and its Application in Evolutionary Design” on Thursday, Feb. 2 at 2 p.m. in MC J404.

K M Nafiul Hassan, a Master of Science in Computer Science candidate, will defend the thesis “Mobility-based Multi-layered Caching and Data Distribution in Vehicular Fog Computing ” on Friday, Feb. 3 at 11 a.m. in MC J404.

Master of Arts in Philosophy thesis defence

Kenton Engel, a Master of Arts in Philosophy candidate, will defend the thesis “The Subject Reimagined: Event, Language, and the Event of Language” on Friday, Feb. 3 at 10 a.m. in virtual format.
