Kick-starting Entrepreneurship returns with new format

A popular Brock University program designed to teach young entrepreneurs how to get their business off the ground is returning to campus next week.

With a lineup of fresh workshops and content, Kick-starting Entrepreneurship is ready to welcome its next round of participants. The program is open to anyone interested in learning about how to get started as an entrepreneur, exploring key areas of launching and running a business.

Now in its ninth year, Kick-starting Entrepreneurship is introducing a new format, offering seven different workshops that can be attended individually or as a whole series. Historically, the program ran as a term-long commitment over the course of 10 weeks.

“We’ve updated the structure of Kick-starting Entrepreneurship to be more flexible,” says Cassie Conte, Program Manager of the Brock LINC. “These workshops answer some of the most common questions that we get about starting a business, and in a format that doesn’t require the commitment of a full-term program.”

The workshops cover a variety of topics such as exploring the inner entrepreneurial mindset, market research, writing a business plan and steps to starting a small business.

Program participants will also have their Brock LINC Membership included and are encouraged to use membership resources, whether meeting with the Entrepreneurs in Residence to discuss business ideas, accessing the Innovation Station hot desks or connecting with the Makerspace to prototype their ideas.

Kick-starting Entrepreneurship will run Tuesdays from Jan. 24 to March 14 from noon to 1:30 p.m. All workshops will take place both online and in person in RFP 302 of the Brock LINC in the Rankin Family Pavilion. Registration is required. In-person attendees will be provided with a free pizza lunch.
