Nominations now open for Senate byelection

The process for the Senate byelection of one full-time teaching staff or professional librarian to Brock’s 2022-23 Senate began Friday, Oct. 7.

In accordance with the Senate Bylaws set out in Section 2 of the Faculty Handbook, the University Secretariat has informed the Senate electorate of the current Senate Electorate List. Based on the Senate Electorate Guidelines, the list is also posted on the Senate Election web page for review by the broader University community.

The Brock University Act stipulates that Senate shall be composed of members of the full-time teaching staff, which is defined in the Act to include professors, lecturers, associates, instructors, demonstrators and all others engaged in the work of teaching or giving instruction or in research.

If any individual believes they meet the definition outlined above but are not currently included in the Senate Electorate List, they may submit a request for inclusion to the Elections Sub-Committee. The request should outline how the individual meets the definition outlined above with reference to the Senate Electorate Guidelines and include any relevant documentation (such as a job description, job posting, etc.).

Requests, corrections or objections to the inclusion, designation or omission of any name on the list must be submitted via email to the Secretary of Senate via email to universitysecretary@brocku.ca by Friday, Oct. 14 at 9 a.m.
