Often discretely, the Foundation has supported the charitable sector and made philanthropic investments in projects throughout the region and beyond, including at Brock University.
The Foundation was established by Art and Val Fleming, a husband and wife from Beamsville, who were recognized by their peers as a couple devoted to community and philanthropy. These values were passed down through generations and still lead the Foundation today.
Brock University is proud of its long-standing relationship with the Foundation and with Val Fleming (BA ’72, LLD ’10), a Brock graduate who served three terms on the University’s Board of Trustees from 1998 to 2006.
The Foundation and Brock have collaborated on many meaningful opportunities, starting with an original gift to the Taro Building Capital Campaign and expanding over time to including support of numerous University initiatives, programs and spaces.
While always receptive to newly identified initiatives throughout the years, the Foundation has steadily held an interest in supporting the Humanities at Brock. The Foundation’s most recent gift supporting the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts was reflective of that focus and of the strong partnership between the Foundation and the University.
“Brock has always held a spot in the Foundation’s heart,” said Art Fleming Jr., treasurer of the Fleming Foundation. “It is with pride that we continue to support the University and its students.”
Reflecting on the unwavering kindness of the Fleming Foundation, Brock recognizes the Foundation’s varied involvement in establishing the community that the University proudly calls home.
“The breadth of the Foundation’s involvement across the community is exceptional,” said Sonia Dupte, Director, Development and Stewardship, Advancement and External Relations. “I know that we are not alone in saying that the Fleming Foundation is truly a pillar of Brock University’s overall success.”
Brock looks forward to its continued partnership with the Fleming Foundation and believes future endeavours will be just as successful as the ones in the past.
