Wear green Friday for mental health

Brock University students, staff and faculty are encouraged to wear green Friday, May 7 in recognition of Mental Health Week.

The annual awareness campaign led by the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) takes place Monday, May 3 to Sunday, May 9 and focuses on naming, expressing and dealing with emotions.

Several virtual wellness events have been planned for Brock employees throughout the week, including sessions on managing anxiety and stress.

Normally, the Friday of Mental Health Week would involve a campus wellness walk and barbecue fundraiser. With most employees and students working and learning remotely, the Brock community is asked to wear green Friday, May 7 and share a selfie to social media using #GetReal and @BrockUniversity

CMHA is encouraging the public to use the #GetReal hashtag to speak about their personal mental health experiences.

Students are reminded that support from the Student Wellness and Accessibility Centre is available year-round.

Employees can access wellness and mental health resources through the Health Safety and Wellness Toolbox on SharePoint.
