Brock University COVID-19 update for March 31

As of Wednesday, March 31, the number of Brock University residence students testing positive for COVID-19 stands at 30.

Brock continues to work closely with Niagara Region Public Health after a COVID-19 outbreak was declared in student residences on Friday, March 26. The University moved back into Brock Stage 1 (Grey/Lockdown) last week after learning that a number of individuals had tested positive.

Including the 30 students who have tested positive for COVID-19, there are a total of 64 students currently isolating in self-contained units in relation to the declared outbreak.

The University is supporting students with the delivery of food and other necessary supplies and Residence Life Staff are regularly checking on them. The residence service desks are available to them by phone 24/7.

Those in isolation are being reminded that, under Public Health regulations intended to manage the spread of the virus, they are not allowed to leave these units except in the case of emergency or for the purpose of COVID testing. No guests are allowed in any of the residence units and students must not stand in doorways to converse with others. Incidents of students violating these COVID mitigation policies are being investigated under the Student Code of Conduct.

Any students who are experiencing symptoms or have a medical concern are asked to contact Student Health Services immediately at Covid19Nurse@Brocku.ca

Students in isolation are reminded they can contact their residence don or Residence Life staff for help. The service desk is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The University reminds all members of the Brock community, students, faculty and staff, to respect and adhere to public health guidelines to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

Further updates will be provided as they become available.
