Thesis defences — Nov. 2 to Nov. 6

The following is a list of thesis defences taking place virtually from Monday, Nov. 2 to Friday, Nov. 6.

Child and Youth Studies PhD thesis defence

Prarthana Franklin-Luther, a PhD candidate in Child and Youth Studies, will defend her thesis titled “HEXACO Personality Investigation into Parenting: Evolutionary Investment Decisions, Punishment and Real-time Parenting Behavior” on Wednesday, Nov. 4 from 2 to 5 p.m. via video conference.

The examination committee includes Anthony Volk, Supervisor; Jan Frijters and Christine Tardiff Williams, Advisory Committee; David Bjorklund, External Examiner (Florida Atlantic University); Rosemary Condillac, Internal Examiner; and Brian Roy, Chair.

Master of Science thesis defence

Alex N. M. Proulx, a Master of Science candidate in the Department of Biological Sciences, will defend his thesis titled “Demography and molecular ecology of the solitary halictid Lasioglossum zonulum: with observations on Lasioglossum leucozonium” on Wednesday, Nov. 4 at 1 p.m. in virtual format.

The examination committee includes Cheryl McCormick, Chair; Miriam Richards, Supervisor; Jess Vickruck, External Examiner (AAFC); and Fiona Hunter and Alan Castle, Committee Members.
