Brock student-led podcast series features business professionals

A new live video podcast series created by a Brock University student leadership group continues this weekend with an interview with the PR Manager for Huawei Canada.

Voice Matters with GBC was created in May by the Goodman Graduate Business Council (GBC) to engage graduate Business students.

Twice a month, GBC executive members interview industry professionals, Goodman alumni or faculty members in a live-recorded video session. The interviews are then edited down to create short segments to share on GBC’s social media platforms.

GBC President Johnson Yen, second-year MBA International Student Pathway (ISP) student, said he created the podcast series to “establish a learning platform for Goodman graduate students to learn, improve and share.”

“It’s not a traditional podcast series where its recorded and available for people to listen to in its entirety afterwards,” he said. “I wanted to do it live so students could ask questions and interact with guest speakers.”

This Sunday, Sept. 13 at 11 a.m., Gillian Cai, PR Manager for the multinational technological company Huawei Canada, will be talking about networking in Canadian job markets.

Past guests have included City of St. Catharines Mayor Walter Sendzik, former GBC executive members and a pair of business partners who spoke about their entrepreneurial journey to start a social enterprise and their experiences working in the audit and finance sector.

The podcasts are hosted by second-year MBA students Eric Cong and Bhavik Vadel. Marketing initiatives are led by Yuvraj Vasisht, also a second-year MBA student.

Anyone interested in joining the live virtual audience are asked to email Yen at president@goodmangbc.com. Seats are limited.

Excerpts of past recordings can be viewed on GBC’s Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn accounts.
