Webinar to empower thriving during times of crises

Entrepreneurs are known to be masters in navigating through uncertainty. With many global challenges and crises converging at once, both individuals and businesses face unprecedented fear, anxiety and turmoil in times of extreme uncertainty.

An upcoming webinar will provide practical advice on how to exit the COVID-19 crisis stronger by not only surviving, but thriving with agility and resilience the entrepreneurial way.

Shawna Chen, an Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship at the Goodman School of Business, will present on ‘Entrepreneurial leadership: Thrive not just survive crises’ Wednesday, Aug. 12 at 11 a.m. as part of the ongoing Business Breathers webinar.

The free weekly webinar series is facilitated by the Goodman School of Businesses’ Goodman Group and features 30 minutes of live industry and faculty expert-led discussions, followed by a 15-minute question-and-answer period. Topics focus on leadership, management and innovation, as well as the financial and social impacts of trending topics.

Chen, who was a serial tech entrepreneur and an investment banker prior to entering academia, says she’s concerned that some companies are not utilizing this opportunity to support innovation. The same goes for individuals.

“Crises shift dynamics,” says Chen, whose research focuses on bridging the intention-action gap in entrepreneurship action for disruptive innovation. “How do you adapt to the situation? How do you see around the corners to get ahead? Those who seize the opportunity will prevail.”

Everyone is welcome to attend Business Breathers webinars. Interested participants are asked to register online. A confirmation email will provide a Lifesize link to access the webinar at the date and time it is planned.
