Podcast shares how video games make meaning

With gaming on the rise since COVID-19, the latest episode of Foreword explores how games convey ideas and the importance of diversity in technology.

Jason Hawreliak, Associate Professor with Brock University’s Centre for Digital Humanities, is this episode’s featured guest. Hawreliak, who teaches in both the Game and Interactive Arts and Science programs and is currently the Centre’s Director, researches heroism and immortality in videogames, multimodal rhetoric and the psychological function of digital media. He shares how he transitioned from an English major background to work in digital media and discusses his 2019 book Multimodal Semiotics and Rhetoric in Videogames.
