Carol Macintosh, Manager, Printing Services, has been hard at work preparing Convocation-in-a-box packages for Brock University's Spring Class of 2020. The boxes are packed with celebratory goodies to help graduates celebrate from home.Brock’s Virtual Convocation celebrations are in full swing for the Spring Class of 2020, and the University is keeping the celebrations going with the launch of ‘Convocation-in-a-box.’
With in-person ceremonies put on hold due to COVID-19 restrictions, the University had to get creative with this year’s celebrations. To ensure the graduates hard work didn’t go unrecognized, a three-step celebration was planned.
Step one began on Friday, June 19 with the kickoff of Brock’s Virtual Spring 2020 Convocation portal. The portal is a personalized web-based experience created for graduates and their families to help celebrate their achievement.
“We’re very excited to have reached June 19, our Virtual Convocation date,” said Jodi Fitzgerald, Associate Registrar, Enrollment Operations. “This was just the first step in the Convocation experience for our Spring Class of 2020.”
Brock is getting ready to commence step two, which is the ‘Convocation-in-a-Box’ packages that will be sent to all of the Spring graduates.
The ‘Convocation-in-a-Box’ packages include the following:
- The graduate’s degree parchment
- A ceremony program booklet
- Celebratory confetti that has been specially produced for Brock’s Class of 2020
- Congratulatory messages
- A copy of Surgite, the alumni magazine
- An alumni pin
- Information from Brock’s Alumni Association; and
- Information on how to purchase a degree frame from the Brock Campus Store
All of the graduates will receive their packages in the mail, which will be sent out in early July.
“We’re all extremely proud of the Class of 2020,” said Fitzgerald. “The University will forever remember this special graduating class. We wish them well in their future endeavours.”
The final step for the graduates’ Convocation experience will be an on-campus, in-person event. This will be planned for a future date once deemed safe to do so by Public Health.
