The following is a list of thesis defences taking place at Brock from Monday, Jan. 27 to Friday, Jan. 31.

All are open for the University community to attend.

PhD in Educational Studies thesis defence

Susan Docherty-Skippen, a PhD candidate in the Department of Educational Studies, will defend her thesis, titled “Self-Care as a Pedagogical Ontology in the Professional Care Practice of Others and with Others: A Hermeneutic Phenomenology of Self-Care in Nursing Education” on Thursday, Jan. 30 at 2 p.m. in WH 147.

The examination committee members are Hilary Brown, Supervisor; Lissa Paul and Pauline Sameshima (Lakehead University), Advisory Committee; Marie Savundranayagam, External Examiner (Western University); Dawn Prentice, Internal Examiner; and Wendy Ward, Chair.

Psychology MA thesis defence
Master’s in Psychology student Reuben Howlett will defend the thesis “Sleep and Emotion Processing in Individuals with Insomnia Symptoms and Good Sleepers” on Tuesday, Jan. 28 at 10 a.m. in WH 147.

The examination committee includes Dawn Zinga, Chair; Kimberly Cote, Supervisor; Ayda Tekok-Kilic, External Examiner (Associate Professor, Department of Child and Youth Studies, Brock University); Michael Busseri, Graduate Program Director; Karen Arnell, Committee Member and Karen Campbell, Committee Member.

Social Justice and Equity Studies MA thesis defence
Master’s in Social Justice and Equity Studies student Keely Grossman will defend the thesis “’We Had More Eyes on Us Than the Boys’: Recollections of Girlhood at Residential Schools for the Blind” on Tuesday, Jan. 28 at 2 p.m. in WH 147.

The examination committee includes Rosemary Condillac, Chair; Jane Helleiner, Supervisor; Michelle Owen, External Examiner (Professor and Program Coordinator for Disability Studies, University of Winnipeg); Mary-Beth Raddon, Graduate Program Director; Lauren Corman, Committee Member and Shannon Moore, Committee Member.
