Thesis defences — Jan. 13 to Jan. 17

The following is a list of thesis defences taking place at Brock from Monday, Jan. 13 to Friday, Jan. 17.

All are open for the University community to attend.

PhD in Applied Health Sciences thesis defence

Lauren Cripps, a PhD candidate in the Department of Applied Health Sciences, will defend her thesis titled “Future-proofing: Exploring the value of a Therapeutic Recreation positive psychology intervention for supporting youth struggling with mental health challenges” on Monday, Jan. 13 at 1 p.m. in Walker Complex 203, Brock University.

The examination committee members are Colleen Hood, Supervisor; Paula Gardner, Tim O’Connell and Frances Owen, Advisory Committee; Lynn Anderson, External Examiner (SUNY at Cortland); Terrance Wade, Internal Examiner; and Wendy Ward, Chair.

Phd in Educational Studies thesis defence

Cathy VanderVliet, a PhD candidate in the Department of Educational Studies, will defend her thesis titled “Negotiating a Gendered Neo-Calvinist Pillar: Immigrant Loss, Transformation, and Lifelong Learning” on Thursday, Jan. 16 at 10 a.m. in Welch Hall 147.

The examination committee members are Nancy Taber, Supervisor; Renée Kuchapski and Shijing Xu, Advisory Committee; Ardra Cole, External Examiner (Mount Saint Vincent University); Gale Coskan-Johnson, Internal Examiner; and Wendy Ward, Chair.
