Brock to present on community sustainability at Welland Public Library

On Monday, Feb. 3, Brock University United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Chair Liette Vasseur will present Introduction to Niagara Region aspiring Geopark: Ohnia:kara.

Ohnia:kara comes from the Mohawk language and translates to “the neck between two bodies of water.”

Taking place at the main branch of the Welland Public Library (50 The Boardwalk) at 6:30 p.m., the event will feature the following expert panelists:

  • Darren Platakis, Founder/CEO, Geospatial Niagara, Ohnia:kara Board Member, Community Engagement
  • Phil Davis, Indigenous Culture Liaison, Ohnia:kara Steering Committee Member
  • Michael P. Hallé, Ohnia:kara Board Member, Destination Brand Strategist
  • Diana Huson, Regional Councillor(Pelham), Niagara Region, and Planning and Economic Development Committee (Chair), NPCA Board Member
