Brock advance poll will let people vote for any riding in Canada

With the federal election less than a month away, Elections Canada is planning an advance poll on Brock campus where eligible voters can cast ballots for candidates seeking office in any of Canada’s 338 electoral districts, or ridings.

Canada’s election is Oct. 21. The advance poll at Brock will be set up in Pond Inlet from Oct. 5 through Oct. 9.  Students and others will be able to cast “write-in” ballots for their home riding, no matter where it is. Opening hours will be as follows:

    • Saturday, Oct. 5 — 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
    • Sunday, Oct. 6 — Noon to 4 p.m.
    • Monday, Oct. 7 — 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
    • Tuesday, Oct. 8 — 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
    • Wednesday, Oct. 9 — 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.

To secure the voting area, the upper level of Pond Inlet will be locked during the days of the advance polls, and no foot traffic through Pond will be allowed.

Jobs for students

The federal election also brings employment opportunities as Elections Canada will hire workers as service agents or information officers. For more information visit the Elections Canada website.
