Registration open for Homecoming Weekend

Brock University’s Homecoming celebrations are headed back to downtown St. Catharines. The annual Homecoming celebration will take place Saturday, Sept. 21 and Sunday, Sept. 22 with activities happening both on and off campus.

The weekend will feature popular events including class reunions, the Alumni Recognition Reception and Brock Night at the Niagara Grape and Wine Festival, a fan favourite that continues to showcase the University’s close ties to the local grape and wine industry.

To kick off the weekend’s festivities, alumni, family and friends will gather for the Alumni Recognition Reception where Brock University Alumni Association (BUAA) award winners will be honoured for exceptional professional achievements and service to society. Among this year’s BUAA award recipients is Distinguished Alumnus Gregory Craig (BBA ’91), President and CEO of Canadian Tire Bank.

“Homecoming provides the opportunity to highlight some of our extraordinary and successful alumni in different faculties,” said Shelley Huxley, Director, Alumni Relations. “We know many of our alumni are doing exceptional things around the world and this event is one way we can share those successes together as a community and promote the excellence of the University.”

Distinguished Faculty Graduate Awards will be presented to individual alumni in the Faculties of Applied Health Sciences, Education, Goodman School of Business, Humanities, Math and Science and Social Sciences. The reception will also recognize 2019’s Outstanding Young Alumni, Alex Valova (BA ’08).

For some alumni, it has been several years or decades since they visited campus. The Alumni Recognition Reception will feature a pinning ceremony for those individuals celebrating their 25- and 50-year anniversaries as a way to commemorate their long-term connection to their alma mater.

“Homecoming offers these alumni a chance to reconnect with their peers and see the growth of the beautiful Brock campus over time,” Huxley said.

Alumni, faculty and staff are encouraged to register early and to update their contact information at brocku.ca/alumni to stay informed of upcoming activities and Homecoming updates.
