Book launch set for English prof’s short story collection

A book launch will be held to celebrate English Professor Tim Conley’s latest collection of short stories, Collapsible, on Friday, March 29.

Influenced by authors such as Samuel Beckett, Jorge Luis Borges and Vladimir Nabokov, the 30 fictional stories that make up Collapsible explore the strange, the curious and the delightful, from a universe where werewolves excite ridicule instead of fear to one where birthdays are occasions for forgetting, not remembering. Conley will ready from the book and copies will be available for purchase.

Conley has written several books of fiction, poetry and criticism. He teaches courses on international modernism and contemporary literature, and his research focuses on James Joyce, Beckett, Nabokov and Borges, as well as an array of experimental novelists and avant-garde poets.

The book launch begins at 7 p.m. at the Niagara Artists’ Centre, 354 St. Paul St. in downtown St. Catharines.
