An upcoming talk on campus looks at lessons learned from historical cross-border trade data.
On Monday, Oct. 29, Brock’s Department of Economics welcomes Pau S. Pujolas, Assistant Professor of Economics from McMaster University, to present “Structural Transformation and Trade: Spain-UK 1850-2000.” The talk will take place in TH240 from noon to 1:30 p.m.
Pujolas’ paper uses historical and contemporary data from Spain to demonstrate patterns and build a dynamic model of trade and structural transformation. Using the model, Pujolas and his co-authors measure the cost of a spike in trade costs between Spain and the U.K. in the early 21st century and find that a trade collapse today would be even costlier.
The talk is part of the department’s Research Seminar Series, which continues throughout the 2018-19 academic year. The series offers an opportunity to learn from renowned researchers from Canada and around the world. All talks are open to the public.
A full list of speakers and details for each event are listed on the department’s website.
