Thesis defences — June 18 to 22

The following is a list of thesis defences taking place at Brock from June 18 to 22.

All are open for the University community to attend.

Nursing MA thesis defence

Faculty of Applied Health Sciences student Kimberley Bowen will defend the thesis “What Constitutes an Expert Registered Nurse in Labour & Delivery?: A Phenomonological Inquiry” on Wednesday, June 20 at 10 a.m. in East Academic 308.

The examination committee includes Sheila O’Keefe-McCarthy, Chair; Kim Jackson, External Examiner (Western University); Dawn Prentice, Supervisor; and Mary Breunig and Karyn Taplay, Advisory Committee Members.

Psychology MA thesis defences

Psychology student Kristen Baker will defend the thesis “Recognition and discrimination: Is there a role for context in face learning?” on Monday, June 18 at 1 p.m. in PL600F.

The examination committee includes Voula Marinos, Chair; Jim Tanaka, External Examiner (University of Victoria); Cathy Mondloch, Supervisor; and Stephen Emrich and Karen Arnell, Committee Members.


Psychology student Brianne Wylie will defend the thesis “Exploring Children’s Pragmatic Understanding of How and Why Causality Questions” on Thursday, June 21 at 1 p.m. in WH147.

The examination committee includes Dawn Zinga, Chair; Daniela O’Neill, External Examiner (University of Waterloo); Angela Evans, Supervisor; and Caitlin Mahy and Catherine Mondloch, Committee Members.

PhD in Educational Studies Comprehensive Portfolio Defence

Education student Linda Ismailos will defend the portfolio “My Journey in Inclusive Education: A Comprehensive Portfolio” on Thursday, June 21 at 10 a.m. in WH 147.

The examination committee includes Shelly Griffin, Chair; Sonia Mastrangelo, External Examiner (Lakehead University); Tiffany Gallagher, Supervisor; Sheila Bennett, Committee Member; and Geri Salinitri, Committee Member (University of Windsor).
