BUSU to offer free lockers during exam period

A new Brock University Students’ Union initiative will see lockers available at no cost during the winter exam period.

Students can register for a locker in person at the main BUSU desk in the Student-Alumni Centre. While there is no cost to register, a refundable $10 deposit is required in exchange for a lock that must be returned at the end of the exam period.

The pilot project was introduced to help students focus on their studies, rather than on the personal items they may have brought along with them to their exams, said Carole Moss, BUSU Director, Student Equity and Inclusion. When unauthorized items are brought into exam spaces, they must be left unattended at the front of the room.

“For students, it means less stress and concern over where their belongings are during their exam,” Moss said.

She recommends that students register 24 hours in advance of their first exam, if possible.

The lockers will be available Dec. 7 to 19 in Welch Hall.
