Thesis defences — Nov. 20 to 24

The following is a list of thesis defences taking place at Brock from Nov. 20 to 24.

All are open for the University community to attend.

Master of Science thesis defences

Mohamed Rezk, a candidate in the Department of Biological Sciences, will present his Master of Science thesis defence on Tuesday, Nov. 21 at 1 p.m. in WH 147.

His thesis is titled, “The effect of Resveratrol on the upregulation of Ngb.”

His examination committee members are Dr. Michael Bidochka, Chair; Dr. Sandra Peters, External Examiner, (Brock University); Dr. Jeffrey Stuart, Supervisor; Dr. Debbie Inglis and Dr. Aleksandar Necakov, Committee Members.

 

Mackenzie Hunter, a candidate in the Department of Kinesiology, will defend his Master of Science thesis on Wednesday, Nov. 22 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in STH 361.

His thesis is titled, “Intra-mitochondrial location of the skeletal muscle perilipin 3 and 5 proteins at rest and following electrically stimulated contraction.”

His examination committee members are Dr. Sandra Peters, Supervisor; Drs. Paul LeBlanc and Jeffrey Stuart, Advisory Committee; Dr. Michaela Devries-Aboud, External Examiner (University of Waterloo); and Dr. Rene Vandenboom, Chair.

 

Brent Wakefield, a candidate in the Department of Kinesiology, will defend his Master of Science thesis on Friday, Nov. 24 from 1 to 4 p.m. in STH 361.

His thesis is titled, “Bone structure and bone mineral density is largely unchanged while intestinal integrity is maintained in growing male CD-1 mice when vitamin D and calcium are fed at levels lower than those present in the AIN-93G reference diet.”

His examination committee members are Dr. Wendy Ward, Supervisor; Drs. Philip Sullivan and Elena Comelli, Advisory Committee; Dr. Harvey Anderson, External Examiner (University of Toronto); and Dr. Andrea Josse, Chair.
