Brock to celebrate International Week

Experience the world without ever leaving campus during Brock’s annual International Week celebration.

Brock International will host a series of events and activities from Monday, Nov. 6 to Friday, Nov. 10 to highlight the role internationalization plays in Canada’s culture and economic and social well-being. The celebratory week is also an opportunity to showcase Brock’s diverse and globally-minded community with more than 90 countries represented.

Cooking demonstrations, henna body art sessions, steel drum lessons and mixed martial arts classes are just a taste of the internationally-themed events set to take place.

A series of information sessions will be held on working and studying abroad, with options highlighted during the Exchange and Study Abroad Fair on Wednesday, Nov. 8 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Market Hall.

The Brock University Film Society (BUFS) will host a screening of the internationally acclaimed Tulip Fever on Wednesday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. at Landmark Cinemas in St. Catharines. Tickets are $10 and are available for purchase from the BUFS table in the cinema lobby.

The University community will also have the opportunity to choose the winner of Brock International’s This is My Home photo contest.

Photos from the five finalists will be featured in an exhibition in Isaac’s Skybar Lounge throughout the week.

Dozens of entries were received from students displaying unique aspects of the place they consider home. Finalists were selected by a panel of Brock staff based on content, technique and colour of submitted photos.

People can vote for the winning entry online or in person at lounge. The winner will be announced at the end of International Week.
