Brock International Services launches new workshops

A series of workshops to help Brock students from around the world has been launched by Brock International Services.

This year, the University welcomed students from more than 85 countries, and to support the continued growth, International Services set out to identify and implement strategies and projects to enhance and foster the education experience for those coming from outside of Canada.

Led by Sheila Young, Associate Director, International Supports, Vander Tavares, Language Support Specialist and Tolkin Yunusov, Academic Skills Support Specialist, the initiative included consultation and collaboration with staff, faculty and students from across the University.

The result is a series of workshops aimed at helping international students develop academic language and skills. The two inaugural workshops, Writing Academic Summaries and Learning Strategies for International Students, launched in early October, filling up quickly.

International Services is now averaging four workshops each week during October and November, with the goal of expanding the range of support and service available to both graduate and undergraduate international students.
