Take a Christmas journey on Dec. 6 with the University Wind Ensemble in Partridge Hall

The Brock University Wind Ensemble will escort their audience through a full wind ensemble repertoire this Tuesday Dec. 6 in a Sounds of Music concert at Partidge Hall in the First Ontario Performing Arts Centre in downtown St. Catharines.

The Wind Ensemble features 60 musicians drawn from Brock, area elementary and high schools and also the broader music community.

The 7:30 p.m. concert will also include a selection of holiday classics featuring the Enchorus Children’s Choir, from Burlington.

Under the baton of conductor Zoltan Kalman, the University Wind Ensemble features 60 musicians drawn from Brock, elementary and high schools in the Niagara Region, and also the broader music community. The Dec. 6 performance also includes musicians from Burlington’s Symphony on the Bay as well as the Niagara Symphony.

The program will feature such past and present features masterworks as Frank Ticheli: “Blue Shades”; Percy Grainger: “Children’s March”; Leonard Bernstein: “Divertimento”; Michael Kositsky: “Songs Without Words”; Richard Rodgers: “The Sound of Music”; Giuseppe Verdi: “Aïda”; Bruce Broughton: “Overture to Miracle on 34th Street; Douglas E. Wagner: “A Family Christmas Spectacular”; and Paul Jennings: “Christmas Finale”.

Such performances by the Department of Music are part of the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts’ mission to strengthen the bonds connections between Brock and its host communities.

Tickets are $10 general admission, or $5 for children and the eyeGo high school program, plus taxes. Current MIWSFPA students can get a complimentary ticket when they show a valid ID.
