Free staff tickets available for Saturday basketball games

Brock University employees have the chance to take in Saturday’s big rivalry basketball games between the Brock Badgers and McMaster Marauders for free.

The Badgers women’s team plays at 1 p.m. and the men play at 3 p.m. in a pair of key early-season games.

As part of a Staff Appreciation Event, 200 free tickets are available for staff and faculty. Employees can pick up their free ticket by showing their staff card at the Walker Complex Welcome Desk before noon on Friday.

At the games Saturday, the Dance Studio overlooking Bob Davis Gymnasium will be used as a hospitality suite with a cash bar available and the games being streamed live on a big-screen TV.

The Badgers women’s team heads into its game with a 2-1 record after beating Guelph 82-53 on Saturday. McMaster is currently the No. 1-ranked women’s team in the country and leads the CIS’ Central Division standings with a 3-0 record.

The Badgers men’s team, with three wins and one loss, is one of only six teams across Canada heading into this weekend with a perfect record in the regular season. Initially ranked sixth in the nation, the Badgers men beat third-ranked McMaster by one point Nov. 16 and Guelph 86-75 on Saturday.

In the latest rankings released Tuesday, the Badgers men moved up to fifth in the country while McMaster dropped to sixth.
