Free chamber music on Fridays at the downtown PAC

The Music Department’s co-curricular program, Music Ed Plus, will be presenting their chamber music ensembles in performance for the next three Fridays from 3-4 p.m. in the lobby of the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre.

Chairs will be set up in the lobby for the hour-long concerts. All concerts are free and presented in conjunction with the Imagining the City’s year-long series of events from the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts.

The first concert on Feb. 26 will feature the jazz ensemble performing favourites such as Line for Lyons, One Family, Criss Cross, Shaker Song and Let’s Go Dancin’. The coach, Zoltan Kalman is also one of the performers in this seven-piece jazz group.

The following Friday, March 4 features two groups, the vocal and woodwind ensembles singing and playing more classically-oriented music. They perform a different set of pieces for the third and final concert on March 11. The vocal group is coached by Deborah Linton and the woodwinds by Kalman.

The Music Ed Plus co-curricular program – a specialized Experience Plus program – is currently in its third year of operation and looks forward to showcasing the musical talents of its chamber music ensembles. These concerts are part of their mandate for community engagement in both the Brock community as well as for the general public in the Niagara Region.
