James Stewart, the author, musician and professor emeritus of mathematics, who received an honorary degree from Brock University at spring Convocation in 2011 has passed away.

He passed away Dec. 3, 2014. “Toronto Star – Obituary: James Drewry Stewart Ph.D, D.Sc(H)

Stewart, a long-time friend of the University, was recognized with an honoray degree in 2011 for his outstanding contributions to mathematics education, architecture and music.

He was first and foremost a mathematician, but also a best-selling author, award-winning professor, renowned public lecturer, accomplished concert violinist, philanthropist and lover of architecture.
