Alumni donors pay it forward

Brock University Annual Fund thanks you for supporting our students, programs and research

Every year, Brock’s Annual Fund asks Brock alumni to support programs that matter to current students. This year, more than 1,200 alumni answered the call and contributed $250,000.

Thank you to all the Brock alumni who made a gift to the Annual Fund in the past year. Your generosity has made it possible for Brock students to enjoy the benefits of programs such as Mentorship Plus and varsity athletics, along with an increase in student awards.

Tuition covers less than 50 per cent of the cost of attending university. The rest is covered partly through the generous support of alumni. Donors make it possible for programs such as Mentorship Plus, which is solely supported through contributions, to continue to exist. The program provides students with an opportunity to seek guidance from more experienced students or alumni.

Brock students also will have access to more scholarships and bursaries because alumni donated more than $100,000 for student awards. Many students face growing student debt and tighter eligibility restrictions on government-funded programs.

Dr. Suess once said: “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”

Alumni like you have cared a whole awful lot, and as a result, Brock’s been able to provide a life-changing experience to all of its students since the University’s conception in 1964. The more than 1,200 alumni who chose to “pay it forward” this year followed the footsteps of past graduates.

Alumni gifts to Brock range from $1 to hundreds of thousands, but it’s not the amount that counts.  Caring Brock alumni set a wonderful example of philanthropy for all future graduates through their support of the University and its goals.
