Two Brock professors have been recognized for their volunteer service to the community.
Peter Vietgen, an associate professor specializing in visual arts education in the Department of Teacher Education, and David Vivian, associate professor of Dramatic Arts, received volunteer recognition certificates from the Government of Canada, the Province of Ontario and the City of St. Catharines on April 19. They received the accolades at the 23rd annual Volunteer Recognition Night, co-sponsored by the City of St. Catharines, the St. Catharines-Thorold Chamber of Commerce and the Henry of Pelham Family Estate Winery.
Vietgen was nominated by the Niagara Artists’ Centre for his contribution to the city’s Public Art Advisory Committee. Vivian was nominated for the four years he spent as chair of the city’s Culture Committee.
Both committees of council are devoted to promoting, stimulating and sustaining the city’s arts and culture sector.
The Volunteer Recognition Awards recognize outstanding volunteers who have made a significant difference in the community. Awards are presented each year to youth and adult volunteers at a banquet hosted by the mayor and councillors. This year’s banquet was held at the Quality Hotel Parkway Convention Centre.
