Brock journal features poetry by acclaimed Canadian writer

PRECIPICE coverThe newest issue of a Brock literary journal features the first publication of poetry by one of Canada’s foremost modern writers.

A special double issue of PRECIPICe will feature poetry from the late Sheila Watson, best known for her novel The Double Hook. It also includes, for the first time in a Canadian literary publication, a special review of contemporary Scandinavian writing.

It also features poetry and interviews from “DUB Revolushun,” an evening of dub poetry, photographic exhibitions, and talks on migrant workers and labour issues held at the Niagara Artists’ Centre in downtown St. Catharines.

PRECIPICe has become over the past few years a major voice in the Canadian literary scene,” said Adam Dickinson, an assistant professor of English who co-edits the journal with fellow assistant professor Gregory Betts.

“Our latest issue underscores this point by featuring celebrated writers like Daphne Marlatt and Lillian Allen alongside emerging Canadian talents like Jenny Sampirisi and Andy Weaver.”

Other established and up-and-coming writers from Poland, the United States, Canada, and beyond appear in the 250-page publication. This includes St. Catharines authors Keith Inman and Malcolm Matthews, and alumni Dan Post and Kate Siklosi. The cover art is by Brock professor Bill Ralph.

PRECIPICe 3.1/3.2 was produced with the assistance of the St. Catharines Cultural Investment Program, the Department of English Language and Literature, and Humanities Research Institute at Brock University. It is available for purchase through the Department or from magazine retailers across Canada.
