A Physics professor emeritus has co-authored a new book on Niagara birds.
John Black has teamed up with Kayo Roy to create Niagara Birds, a compendium of articles and species accounts of birds in the Niagara Region. The authors will have an official book launch on Saturday, Oct. 16 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Lookout Point Country Club in Fonthill.
Niagara Birds has some 25 articles and 368 species accounts by professional ornithologists and experienced amateur birders. Topics range from the interaction of birds and grape growers to the effect of West Nile Virus on owls.
Black is an avid birder and president of the Ontario Field Ornithologists.
