Cooking demonstrations, photo displays and information sessions are highlights of International Education Week at Brock this week.

Held from Nov. 14 to 18, International Education Week is celebrated with various events across campus.

International Education Week is a time to celebrate the role of international students at Brock, as well as the international experiences available to students, said Sheila Young, director of Brock International.

“International students bring their unique cultural perspectives and experiences to the classroom and the community on campus.”

Events include:

All week

  • Photo exhibits “This is My Home” and “Home Away From Home” in the Sean O’Sullivan gallery
  • A photo reflection of the Med Plus Peru trip in the Career Resource Centre

Tonight

  • Indian cuisine at Decew Dining Hall, 4:30 to 7 p.m.
  • The Guard, part of the Brock University Film Series, at the Empire Theatre in the Pen Centre at 7 p.m.

Tomorrow

  • A Chinese cooking demonstration from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at the International Centre staff lounge (register here)
  • Graham Pike, invited speaker of the Faculty of Education and Brock International, presenting “Current Trends in Global Education” from 12 noon to 2 p.m. in the Sankey Chamber
  • A Global Volunteer Experience information session from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Sankey Chamber
  • Mandarin Corner movie night – The Karate Kid (2010), 5 to 7 p.m. at the International Centre student lounge
  • International cuisine at the Guernsey Market all day

Friday, Nov. 18

  • Cultural Café — Demonstrations and Brock University Students Union international club displays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Market Hall
  • Global Transitions information session from 12 noon to 2 p.m. in the Sankey Chamber

There are currently 1,440 international students at Brock.
