The VP, Administration portfolio includes Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology Services, Infrastructure, Facilities Management, Campus Security, Ancillary Services, Advancement, Marketing and Communications, University Secretariat, and Legal Services. These areas work cohesively to support the mission of the University and on the delivery of its Institutional Strategic Plan.

About Ken Chan

Ken Chan (MBA MFAcc ICD.D) became Vice-President, Administration at Brock University on June 1, 2021.

Prior to joining Brock, Chan was an Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM) in the Ontario Government. He was the ADM, COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Secretariat at the Ministry of the Solicitor General and before that an ADM at the Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries.

Chan brings experience from the health and life sciences sectors. He was Director of Public Affairs at Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Vice President of Advocacy, Research and Healthcare at Cystic Fibrosis Canada, and Policy Director in the Minister’s Office at the Ontario Ministry of Health.

His international experience included roles in the United Kingdom (UK) where he was a Senior Advisor in the Mayor’s Office at London City Hall and an Assistant Director with the UK Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform.

Earlier in his career, he was a constable with the Peel Regional Police.

Chan serves on the boards of Alterna Savings, Alterna Bank, Open For Business (UK), ALS Canada, FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre and Pathstone Foundation. His previous board experience spanned the health and education sectors in Canada and the UK including at Sherbourne Health, University of Toronto, North York General Hospital, Lambeth College and Archbishop Tenison’s School. He holds the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors.

Chan is currently an executive PhD candidate at ESCP Business School where his research is in corporate political activity. He has a Master of Forensic Accounting (MFAcc) from the University of Toronto, Master of Business Administration (MBA) from City University of Seattle, and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) from Simon Fraser University. Chan was also an Executive Scholar in Non-profit Management at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. He has completed executive education programs, including the Senior Executive Advanced Finance and Accounting Program at CPA Canada, the Fintech Programme at Oxford’s Saïd Business School, the Directors Education Program and Advanced Health Leadership Program at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management.
