We recognize that we are on the traditional lands of the Haudenosaunee and Anishinabe peoples, and traditional shared hunting and gathering grounds of many nations.
Opened in 1964, Brock University is nestled in the Niagara Escarpment. With over 18 000 students attending Brock each year, the variety in academics, extra-curricular activities, and setting of the university has made Brock into a unique community. The student body and areas of the university have close relationships with the St. Catharines and the Niagara Region, supporting each other whenever possible. Brock provides a unique experience for students, completed with historical, environmental, and educational significance.
The university is named after Major General Sir Isaac Brock for his accomplishments and dedication in military tactics and leadership during the War of 1812 for the Niagara Region. Along with his joy in learning and education, today the university carries his passion for leadership and education while pursuing interests.
Brock University is also located in an United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Biosphere Reserve as the Niagara Escarpment provides national and international significance to the interactions between our environment and society.
Brock is home to 7 faculties in which students complete their program while exploring their passions and interests to have an experience catered to them. Experiential education is a priority for the university, creating opportunities for students to have hands on experience in their interests and program.
As our namesake last words were “Surgite!”, Latin for “Push On”, Brock continues to improve and change itself in order to provide students with the best experiences as possible. Through this motto, the Residence Life Conference hopes to offer an unique experience for you to pursue your interests and passions.
