CUPE, Local 4207-1 sets a strike deadline of March 3

The University has been advised that CUPE, Local 4207-1, which represents contract Instructors, Teaching Assistants, Course Coordinators, Lab Demonstrators and Marker-Graders at Brock, will set a strike deadline for Friday March 3.

The parties have been bargaining for a new agreement since September and met three times with a provincially appointed conciliation officer, after which the union requested what is known as a “no-board report”, the first step toward a legal strike or lockout.

The “no-board report” has now been issued, and the parties are in a legal strike/lockout position as of 12:01 am on March 3. The union has advised it will set a strike deadline for that date.

The University remains committed to continued talks with the union to reach a renewal collective agreement. The current agreement expired on Sept. 6, 2016.

For continued updates on this negotiation, and for more information about the collective bargaining process, please regularly monitor this website.
