Another one bites the dust

With two major projects being built at the centre of campus, 2017 may go down as the Summer of Construction. This machine, aptly called a pulverizer, made its presence felt June 9 as it began smashing through “the Canopy” — the massive concrete slab perched atop two pillars just outside the front doors of Schmon Tower. Over the next two years, the Tower’s forecourt will be enclosed and transformed into the Brock LINC, a $19.2-million learning and innovation complex. But before the construction must come the demolition. Not all of the Tower area’s concrete will come down — the large street-side overhead section known as The Podium will remain and become part of the new Brock LINC. For more on the Brock LINC click on https://brocku.ca/brock-news/2017/03/board-of-trustees-meeting-highlights-atrium-and-upgraded-power-projects-moving-forward/    (Photo courtesy of construction site superintendent Joe Forster)
